Upload Various File Formats – ChatGPT Plus
ChatGPT File Uploader is a Chrome extension that allows you to upload large files to chat.openai.com in smaller chunks. This can be useful when you need to upload a large file to a ChatGPT that has a character size limit.
I was able to test the chatbot’s new feature myself, by turning on beta features in the settings, and then choosing “Advanced data analysis,” which allows for file uploads and gives ChatGPT the ability to write and execute python code. I first tried uploading Shakespeare’s Macbeth in PDF format, though ChatGPT couldn’t analyse the file due to its formatting (it did, however, recognize the play, and it offered to give me a summary of it anyways). I also tried with a scholarly article on the economic impact of melting ice caps; ChatGPT analyzed the file, and provided bulleted key points, as well as a number of additional insights, rounding it up with a comprehensive summary of the document.
This functionality can be incredibly powerful in certain situations, as you can now feed ChatGPT specific documents and have it extract summaries, various data points, or even write graphs and charts based on that data.
It’s worth noting that ChatGPT’s creator OpenAI has already landed in hot water for training its models on copyrighted work. Anyone using ChatGPT to analyze documents should be mindful of which documents they use, and even more so, how they use ChatGPT’s results.
Automatically Switch Between Tools – ChatGPT Plus
When using this AI chatbot, users no longer have to manually switch between tools like Browsing, Advanced Data Analytics, Code Interpreter, and DALL. E. ChatGPT will now handle these switches automatically, though the option to switch tools manually remains available.
Numerous users of ChatGPT Plus have shared details about the platform’s latest updates. For those who might not know, ChatGPT Plus is an optional subscription offering access to an enhanced GPT-4 model and additional features like the Code Interpreter and ChatGPT Plugins.
In this latest update, a key feature has been introduced, allowing users to upload various file formats, including PDFs and documents. ChatGPT can now analyze these files, enabling it to provide answers to your questions and even extract and visualize data from them.
Another notable update coming to ChatGPT Plus is the introduction of automatic tool switching. When using this AI chatbot, users no longer have to manually switch between tools like Browsing, Advanced Data Analytics, Code Interpreter, and DALL.E. ChatGPT will now handle these switches automatically, though the option to switch tools manually remains available.
Reportedly, both these functionalities are presently available within the ChatGPT Enterprise plan, which was introduced back in August. However, OpenAI is incorporating these features into the independent ChatGPT Plus subscription through this update. For those unfamiliar, ChatGPT Enterprise provides enterprise-level privacy, security, and deployment tools. This ensures that the AI model used by OpenAI’s corporate clients does not train on business data or conversations, and the models remain unaffected by the usage within the corporate environment.
ChatGPT can now perform a multitude of tasks from the default chat. Previously, GPT-4 users would have to manually select each API they wanted to use. But now, ChatGPT can write and execute Python code, work with file uploads and help with data analysis automatically.
To do data analytics, users have to have Advanced Data Analysis enabled. Go to ‘settings’ and make sure the Advanced Data Analysis toggle under ‘beta features’ is switched on.
ChatGPT is now more intuitive
The new Advanced Data Analysis offering is the latest update by OpenAI to make ChatGPT more intuitive. Almost a year on from its release, ChatGPT can now handle images and voice inputs thanks to GPT-4V, access real-time information and generate high-quality images via DALL-E 3.
This latest update pits ChatGPT against rival Claude from Anthropic, which was capable of interacting with documents since it was made public in July. ChatGPT can now do what Claude did and more – though it lacks Claude’s impressive context length capable of handling 100,000 tokens of text or around 75,000 words.
Throughout 2023, the growth of ChatGPT has been remarkably rapid. The generative AI chatbot made a prominent entry in November 2022, capturing attention with its capacity to produce content spontaneously. Following its success, several rivals, including Google and Microsoft, introduced their own AI chatbots. As a result, OpenAI needed to innovate to sustain its position in the AI chatbot competition, and it has indeed achieved just that.
